This article aims to understand the concepts of literacy and literacy, highlighting the importance of the student's teaching and learning process, especially those who have learning and comprehension difficulties, and with this occurs the great challenge in education, to understand why the student has this difficulty in learning, and also in the issue of families being present in the student's school life and how this affects learning and their future. We used bibliographic sources and empirical research, in addition to the interview technique. It is believed through this study that with satisfactory results in literacy and literacy it is possible to mitigate school dropout, and literacy at the right age, encourages the teacher to seek new methodologies in the classroom, to encourage the student to be interested in studies and seek ways for the family to be more present in the student's school life.
