Resumo: | The chemical composition of Pennisetum purpureum Shum silages was evaluated. with sunflower bran. The treatments consisted of the inclusion of 0, 10, 20 and 30% of sunflower bran in elephant grass ensilage, distributed in a completely randomized design with four treatments and five replications. The forage was cut manually with approximately 5 cm of soil, then it was minced with a particle size of 2cm, the plant was with a height of 1.80 m, silage of elephant grass was carried out in silos. 4 L and the opening of the silos occurred at 40 days after ensiling. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and regression using the statistical software R. at 5% significance level. An increase (P <0.05) of 47 percentage units was observed for each 1% of the added residue on dry matter (DM). The addition of sunflower bran promoted a negative quadratic effect (P <0.05) on the NDF contents, observing its minimum point of 66.81%. For the values of acid detergent fiber (FDA) and (CNF), a negative quadratic effect (P <0.05) was observed, reaching a minimum point of 63.55% of ADF with 24.44% of the bran added. sunflower and 3.56% CNF at the level of 10.34% sunflower bran respectively. For the values of (CP) and (EE) there was a positive quadratic effect (P <0.05) obtaining a maximum value of 27.50% and 3.23% respectively. The inclusion of 10% sunflower meal in elephant grass silage is enough to improve the chemical composition of the silage. |

The inclusion of 10% sunflower meal in elephant grass silage is enough to improve the chemical composition of the silage.
