The injustices of Clio revisited: Clóvis Moura and the critique of whiteness in the historiographic field

Resumo: In this article, we intend to outline the diverse inquires of Clóvis Moura (1925-2003) to the disciplinary historiography in the work As Injustiças de Clio: o negro na historiografia brasileira (1990). For this, we will approach, in a first moment, through the intellectual trajectory of Clóvis the criticisms that he made to the canon of “Brazilian social thought” before the publication of the referred work. Then, we will explain the main lines of force of the work in question, to thereby make explicit the thesis that he is a pioneer in the Marxist analysis of whiteness and racism in the history of historiography.

Pretendemos neste artigo esboçar as diversas interpelações de Clóvis Moura (1925-2003) a História disciplinar na obra As Injustiças de Clio: o negro na historiografia brasileira (1990). Para isto, abordaremos, em um primeiro momento, através da trajetória intelectual de Clóvis as críticas que este fez ao cânone do “pensamento social brasileiro” antes da publicação da referida obra. Em seguida, explicitaremos as principais linhas de força da obra em questão, para assim explicitar a tese de que esta é pioneira na análise marxista da branquitude e do racismo na história da historiografia.
