Resumo: With the theme Municipal Councils of Education and democratic management in the Northeast region of Brazil, the article aims to analyze the implications, challenges and perspectives posed to the CMEs for the implementation of democratic management in the Northeast region. Based on bibliographic and documental research, based on dialectical historical materialism, we discuss the CMEs as spaces that contribute to the democratic management of public education at the municipal level, urged to overcome the challenges in their composition and in the development of their attributions, to guarantee the right of all to education, as stated in article 205 of the 1988 Federal Constitution.

A partir de una investigación bibliográfica y documental, fundamentada en el materialismo histórico dialéctico, el artículo discute los CMEs como espacios que contribuyen a la gestión democrática de la educación pública en el ámbito municipal, instados a superar los desafíos en su composición y en el desarrollo de sus atribuciones, con el fin de garantizar el derecho de todos a la educación, según lo dispuesto en el artículo 205 de la Constitución Federal de 1988.Com o tema "Conselhos Municipais de Educação e Gestão Democrática na região Nordeste do Brasil", o artigo tem por objetivo analisar implicações, desafios e perspectivas colocados aos CME para a efetivação da gestão democrática nas nove capitais da região nordeste.
