This article presents a brief overview of the challenges facing schools related to the digital literacy of Generation Z students. The BNCC recognizes the changes that have occurred in contemporary times and reinforces the role of the school in relation to digital literacy and the formation of cyber readers. Studies show a considerable increase in the number of hours that young students spend on the Internet to carry out various activities, including school research. We also address the dangers of reading in digital media and the impacts that different media have on children's attention and memory. We found that Generation Z students are familiar with DICT and present themselves as readers and content producers in digital media. We consider it pertinent to deepen research on the impacts of digital literacy on the training process of the cyber reader student, on the acquisition of knowledge and, above all, on school learning. We believe it is necessary to address the issue of digital literacy in educational institutions, as we recognize that a digitally literate student is capable of using technology to solve real problems and actively contribute to the development of society.
