Resumo: The corporative volunteering programs have emerged as a new phenomenon in society, although the studies seeking to understand their functioning and meaning among those that promote them are still scarce. Thus, an attempt was made to identify how the enterprise volunteer, involved in an organizational scenario with a series of new demands, perceives this type of work the organization incentives him to perform. Would it be solidarity, affection, responsibility towards others or would it be assuming new meanings in the organizational scenario? This article aims at discussing the issue, based on a case study conducted in two major gaúchas companies where enterprise volunteers and managers in charge of these programs were interviewed. The most important meanings found are volunteering as life history, as organizational demand, as a company’s desire, as a means of recognition by the company (“I’m a part”), among others.
