Bioecologia de Boophilus microplus (Canestrini,1887) (Acarina:Ixodidae) no Estado do Rio de Janeiro: oviposi??o e sazonalidade. Considera??es preliminares

Resumo: Studies on oviposition of B. microplus in laboratorial conditions (27?C of temeperature, 80-95% of relative humidity, in darkness), and on the seasonal activity and the role of this tick in mixed infestations on Holstein-Friesan and Holstein-Friesan x Guzera crossbreed cattle in field conditions were carried out in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The studied population showed the following values: the preoviposition period ranged from 4 to 5 days with an average of 4.14 days; the oviposition period ranged from 5 to 9 days with an average of 7.36 days; the weight of masses of eggs ranged from 44 to 169 mg with an average of 100.4mg; the weight of each egg was 0.047mg; the longevity of females ranged from 11 to 18 days with an average of 14.3 days; the loss of organic mass with the oviposition, dryness and death was 69.51%; the number of eggs laid ranged from 966 to 3.718 with an average of 2,215; the estimation of hatch ranged from 25% to 100% with an average of 80.9%; the incubation period ranged from 23 to 27 days with an average of 24.9 days; the maximum longevity of lar- 32 vae was 122 days; the reproductive efficiency index (REI) ranged from 4,587.6 to 13,369.2 with an average of 10,053.4; the conversion efficiency index (CEI) ranged of 0.458. The seasonal distribution, based on only one year of estudy, was trimodal, with a smaller peark of infestation in March, a middling peak in June and a maximum peak in September-October showing a possible existence of three generations per year. In mixed infestations, A. cajennense was found in a little quantity yet in all stages of its life cicle. It was the only species of genus Amblyomma found on cattle.

A popula??o estudada revelou os seguintes valores: per?odo de preoviposi??o de 4 a 5 dias, com m?dia de 4,14 dias; per?odo de oviposi??o de 5 a 9 dias, em m?dia de 7,36 dias; peso m?dio das massas de ovos de 44 a 169 mg, em m?dia; peso de cada ovo, 0,047 mg; longevidade m?dia das f?meas de 14,3 dias, variando de 11 a 18 dias; perda de massa org?nica com a oviposi??o, ressecamento e morte, 69,51%; n?mero m?dio de ovos depositados, 2215, oscilando de 968 a 3718; estimativa m?dia de eclos?o, 80,9%, variando de 25 a 100%; per?odo m?dio de incuba??o de 24,9 dias, oscilando de 23 a 27 dias; longevidade m?xima das larvas, 122 dias; ?ndices de efici?ncia reprodutiva (IER) m?dio de 10053,4, com varia??o de 4587,6 a 13369,2; ?ndice de efici?ncia 30 de convers?o (IEC) m?dio de 0,458, com oscila??o de 0,164 a 0,607. A distribui??o sazonal, com um s? ano de estudo, revelou-se trimodal, com pico menor de infesta??o em mar?o, um pico m?dio em junho e um pico m?ximo em setembro-outubro, indicando com isto exist?ncia de tr?s gera??es por ano. description Studies on oviposition of B. microplus in laboratorial conditions (27?C of temeperature, 80-95% of relative humidity, in darkness), and on the seasonal activity and the role of this tick in mixed infestations on Holstein-Friesan and Holstein-Friesan x Guzera crossbreed cattle in field conditions were carried out in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The studied population showed the following values: the preoviposition period ranged from 4 to 5 days with an average of 4.14 days; the oviposition period ranged from 5 to 9 days with an average of 7.36 days; the weight of masses of eggs ranged from 44 to 169 mg with an average of 100.4mg; the weight of each egg was 0.047mg; the longevity of females ranged from 11 to 18 days with an average of 14.3 days; the loss of organic mass with the oviposition, dryness and death was 69.51%; the number of eggs laid ranged from 966 to 3.718 with an average of 2,215; the estimation of hatch ranged from 25% to 100% with an average of 80.9%; the incubation period ranged from 23 to 27 days with an average of 24.9 days; the maximum longevity of lar- 32 vae was 122 days; the reproductive efficiency index (REI) ranged from 4,587.6 to 13,369.2 with an average of 10,053.4; the conversion efficiency index (CEI) ranged of 0.458. The seasonal distribution, based on only one year of estudy, was trimodal, with a smaller peark of infestation in March, a middling peak in June and a maximum peak in September-October showing a possible existence of three generations per year. In mixed infestations, A. cajennense was found in a little quantity yet in all stages of its life cicle. It was the only species of genus Amblyomma found on cattle.
