Neuropatia diabética periférica em pacientes atendidos pelo sistema único de saúde no município de Aracaju

Diabetic neuropathy is the most prevalent complication of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), being associated with expressive mortality and morbidity. One of its usual consequences is the development of distal symmetric polineuropathy evolving to diabetic foot when associated with vasculopathy and risk factors. The main purpose of this article is to define the profile of peripheral diabetic neuropathy in patients followed up on a reference practice of SUS in the city of Aracaju (SE). For such, were collected data through the Sistema Salvando o Pé Diabético (SiSPED) of 192 patients, on which the presence of neuropathy was studied using the scores of neuropathic symptons (ESN) and neuropathic damage (ECN) with posterior boniminal logistic regression to determine their effects on the chances of a patient to the develop peripheral diabetic neuropathy. The study showed a prevalence of peripheral diabetic neuropathy of 67,19%, progressive growth of the risk of developing neuropathy through the growth of the obtained score (for each point obtained on the ESN, the risk of developing peripheral diabetic neuropathy grows 2,98 times. To the ECN, it grows 9,35 times) and statistical correlation between neuropathy and both the scores, besides correlation with the type of diabetes. Thus, this study was able to show not only the high prevalence of neuropathy as a diabetes complication but the utility of the socres ESN and ECN – with expressive sensibility and specificity – to the diagnosis and prediction of it, also demonstrating the importance of the SiSPED as a simple tool to help in the patients support.
