Hospital and home educacional provision: the right of sick children and adolescents

Resumo: | This paper is about the educational provision for children and adolescents suffering illness. Thesocial construction of the concepts of being ill, to go to hospital and stay hospitalized, to be born, to live andto die are discussed. The terminology used to define this type of educational provision, its goals and therelated legislation are mentioned. The clientele focused and the dynamic of the activities proposed arepresented as well as the number of hospital and home based education on the Brazilian context. Thesimilarities and differences between the Brazilian and the Canadian realities concerning the schooling for thesick population lead to some considerations related to this specific field. |

Il examine la terminologie utilisée pour définir l’assistance educative aux enfants et adolescentes malades et ses objectifs bien aussi le soutien juridique qui assure cette modalité educative. La clientèle et la dynamique du travail scolaire sont présentés, ainsi que la quantité et la localisation de ces modalité educatives dans le contexte brésilien. Le texte presente aussi les proximités et les éloignements de la réalité brésilienne par rapport à ce type d'enseignement dans le contexte canadien, en contribuant à quelques considérations sur la scolarisation dans le milieu hospitalier.Este texto aborda a temática do atendimento escolar de crianças e adolescentes doentes e reflete sobre a construção social de conceitos no que se refere ao adoecer, ao hospital e à hospitalização, ao nascer, ao viver e ao morrer. A terminologia utilizada para definir o atendimento escolar dado aos enfermos, o respaldo legal e os objetivos dessa modalidade de ensino são abordados. A clientela atendida e a dinâmica do trabalho escolar realizado são apresentadas, bem como o quantitativo de escolas em hospitais e de atendimento escolar domiciliar no contexto brasileiro.
