Controversy sociotechnical: a didactic proposal for engineering education

Summary: This paper presents an interdisciplinary didactic proposal with the aim of analyzing controversial sociotechnical issues in engineering education and contributes to the development of critical and reflexive reasoning through argumentation. The proposal was based on research done in an engineering class in extra-class hours. The research was outlined as a case study with qualitative data analysis. The results indicate that students engage and value interdisciplinary activities in their professional qualification; however, introducing them into the regular curriculum is still a challenge.
