Resumo: | This study aims to analyze the social representations (RS) of childhood depression. This is a quanti-qualitative study, anchored to the theoretical contribution of the Theory of Social Representations (RS). The study included 120 children, aged between 8 and 12 years (M = 2.0; SD = 0.47), from the city of Campina Grande-PB, in the school context and who mostly lives with their parents (83.3%). The data came from the Free Association of Words Technique (TALP) in the face of stimuli; depression, depressed person and myself. These stimuli were processed by the Tri-Deux-Mots software and analyzed through a Correspondence Factor Analysis (CFA). The results show that depression, depressed person and children’s self-perception about depression are represented in a multifaceted way from the different anchorages. Specifically, it appears that the representations of social actors about depression are anchored in feelings of fragility, suicide, discouragement, which corroborates to an elaborate knowledge and shared socially.The data of this research point to the construction of practical knowledge about the social representations of childhood depression contributing to the development of interventions and actions, as well as in the prevention of future cases of depression in the school context. |

Se trata de un estudio cuantitativo-cualitativo, anclado al aporte teórico de la Teoría de las Representaciones Sociales (RS). Participaron del estudio 120 niños, con edades entre 8 y 12 años (M = 2,0; DP = 0,47), de la ciudad de Campina Grande-PB, en el contexto escolar y que mayoritariamente habita con sus padres (83,3%). Los datos provienen de la Técnica de Asociación Libre de Palabras (TALP) frente a los estímulos; depresión, persona deprimida y yo mismo. Estos estímulos fueron procesados por el software Tri-Deux-Mots y analizados por medio de un Análisis Factorial de Correspondencia (AFC). Los resultados demuestran que la depresión, persona deprimida y la autopercepción de los niños acerca de la depresión son representadas de forma multifacética a partir de los diferentes anclajes. Específicamente, se verifica que las representaciones de los actores sociales acerca de la depresión se encuentran ancladas en los sentimientos de fragilidad, suicidio, desanimo, lo que corrobora para un conocimiento elaborado y compartido socialmente. Los datos de esa investigación apuntan para la construcción del conocimiento práctico acerca de las representaciones sociales de la depresión infantil contribuyendo para elaboración de intervenciones y acciones, así como, en la prevención de futuros casos de depresión en el contexto escolar.O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar as representações sociais (RS) da depressão infantil. Os dados foram advindos da Técnica de Associação Livre de Palavras (TALP) em face aos estímulos; depressão, pessoa deprimida e eu mesmo. Esses estímulos foram processados pelo software Tri-Deux-Mots e analisados por meio de uma Análise Fatorial de Correspondência (AFC). Os resultados demonstram que a depressão, pessoa deprimida e a autopercepção das crianças acerca da depressão são representadas de forma multifacetada a partir das diferentes ancoragens.
