Unemployed Nursing graduates: choice of course and perception of teaching

Resumo: Objective: To verify the reasons for choosing nursing education and the opinion of nurses on the quality of education offered to them, while in the situation of unemployment as a nurse. Methods: This is a qualitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study, conducted with fourteen nurses. Data collection took place through interviews, with a semi-structured questionnaire prepared by the researchers. Data analysis with Content Analysis. Results: The interviewees declared themselves to be white or brown, mostly Catholic, single, without children, aged between 23 and 34 years old, graduated less than two years ago. The choice of Nursing as a profession was justified by reports about having taken high school courses in the area, wanting to help people and being close to the patient. Most of the participants negatively evaluated their training, reporting failures in aspects of coordination and teaching, deprivation of internship field and feeling of lack of professional preparation. Conclusion: The perception of undergraduate nursing by the graduates revealed important points to be improved, where harsh criticisms were observed, including flaws in aspects of coordination and teaching, deprivation of internship field and feeling of lack of professional preparation.

Métodos: Este es un estudio cualitativo, descriptivo, transversal, realizado con catorce enfermeras. La recolección de datos se realizó a través de entrevistas, con un cuestionario semiestructurado preparado por los investigadores. Análisis de datos con análisis de contenido. Resultados: Los entrevistados se declararon blancos o marrones, en su mayoría católicos, solteros, sin hijos, con edades entre 23 y 34 años, graduados hace menos de dos años. La elección de Enfermería como profesión se justificó por informes sobre haber tomado cursos de secundaria en el área, querer ayudar a las personas y estar cerca del paciente. La mayoría de los participantes evaluaron negativamente su capacitación, informando fallas en aspectos de coordinación y enseñanza, privación del campo de pasantías y sensación de falta de preparación profesional. Conclusión: La percepción de los graduados en enfermería de pregrado reveló importantes puntos a mejorar, donde se observaron duras críticas, incluyendo fallas en aspectos de coordinación y enseñanza, privación del campo de pasantías y sensación de falta de preparación profesional.Objetivo: Verificar os motivos para escolha pela formação em Enfermagem e a opinião de enfermeiros sobre a qualidade do ensino oferecido aos mesmos, enquanto na situação de desemprego como enfermeiro. Métodos: Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva, transversal, realizada com quatorze enfermeiras. A coleta de dados se deu por meio de entrevista, com questionário semiestruturado confeccionado pelos pesquisadores. Análise de dados com Análise de Conteúdo. Resultados: As entrevistadas se declararam branca ou parda, maioria católica, solteira, sem filhos, com idade entre 23 e 34 anos, formadas há menos de dois anos. A escolha da Enfermagem como profissão foi justificada por relatos sobre ter feito cursos de ensino médio na área, querer ajudar as pessoas e ter proximidade com o paciente. A maioria dos participantes avaliou negativamente a sua formação, relatando falhas em aspectos da coordenação e do ensino, privação de campo de estágio e sentimento de falta de preparo profissional.
