Extension in Professional Education: characterization of the actions of a Federal Institute of Education

Resumo: The Council of Pro-Rectors of Extension of the Brazilian Public Institutions of Higher Education, is an interdisciplinary, educational, cultural, scientific and political process that promotes the transformation between the University and other sectors of society. In this sense, the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education has been implementing several actions in order to develop and systematize activities as extensionists in the Federal Network, in the form of premises of the new institutional format that consolidates for a Brazilian professional education, with a new creation Federal Institutes of Education. Given the scope, this research aimed to characterize the descriptive profile of extension actions built on the campus of the Fortaleza do Ceará Federal Institute (IFCE), from January 2009 to May 2019. Data for a work of this type were collected from Extension Dean's Management System (Sigproext), which is a tool used to record IFCE extension actions. This is a quantitative research, case study type and, for the purposes, descriptive. The indicators show that extension is a very present and constantly growing academic layer on campus, however, some suggestions for progress are pointed out, such as an analysis of special attention to the evaluation and results achieved with extension actions. Thus, it is hoped that this study, in addition to contributing to the extension monitoring on campus, will enable the promotion of future actions, and an orientation agenda that will be used for an extension evaluation in the institution.

En este sentido, la Red Federal de Educación Profesional, Científica y Tecnológica ha venido implementando varias acciones para desarrollar y sistematizar actividades como extensionistas en la Red Federal, en forma de premisas del nuevo formato institucional que se consolida para una educación profesional brasileña, con un nueva creación de los Institutos Federales de Educación. Dado el alcance, esta investigación tuvo como objetivo caracterizar el perfil descriptivo de las acciones de extensión construidas en el campus del Instituto Federal Fortaleza do Ceará (IFCE), de enero de 2009 a mayo de 2019. Los datos para un trabajo de este tipo se obtuvieron de Extension Dean's Management System (Sigproext), que es una herramienta utilizada para registrar las acciones de extensión de IFCE. Esta es una investigación cuantitativa, tipo de estudio de caso y, a los efectos, descriptiva. Los indicadores muestran que la extensión es una capa académica muy presente y en constante crecimiento en el campus, sin embargo, se señalan algunas sugerencias para el progreso, como un análisis de atención especial a la evaluación y los resultados logrados con las acciones de extensión. Por lo tanto, se espera que este estudio, además de contribuir a la supervisión de la extensión en el campus, permita la promoción de acciones futuras y una agenda de orientación que se utilizará para una evaluación de extensión en la institución.Segundo o Fórum de Pró-Reitores de Extensão das Instituições Públicas de Educação Superior Brasileiras, a extensão é um processo interdisciplinar, educativo, cultural, científico e político que promove a interação transformadora entre Universidade e outros setores da sociedade. Nesse sentido, a Rede Federal de Educação Profissional, Científica e Tecnológica vem implementando diversas ações no sentido de construir e sistematizar as atividades extensionistas na Rede Federal, sob as premissas do novo formato institucional que se consolida para a educação profissional brasileira, com a criação dos Institutos Federais de Educação. Diante desse escopo, esta pesquisa objetivou caracterizar o perfil descritivo das ações de extensão desenvolvidas no campus Fortaleza do Instituto Federal do Ceará (IFCE), no período de janeiro de 2009 a maio de 2019. Os dados para a constituição deste trabalho foram coletados a partir do Sistema de Gerenciamento da Pró-reitoria de Extensão (Sigproext), que é a ferramenta utilizada para registro das ações de extensão do IFCE. Trata-se de uma pesquisa quantitativa, do tipo estudo de caso e, quanto aos objetivos, descritiva. Os resultados evidenciam que a extensão é uma dimensão acadêmica bastante presente e em constante crescimento no campus, todavia, algumas sugestões de melhorias são apontadas, como a importância de uma especial atenção quanto à avaliação e aos resultados alcançados com as ações de extensão.
