School evasion as a contemporary challenge to the Middle School of Teaching Luiz Girão, in Maranguape-CE

Resumo: This article presents the problem of evasion at Luiz Girão High School, located in the municipality of Maranguape in the State of Ceará, Brazil. Our research refers to the period between 2013 and 2017. School dropout engenders discussions with emphasis on the first-grade classes of high school, the final stage of basic education in Brazil. The methodology used for the analysis of this phenomenon was based on a case study, taking as reference the quantitative and qualitative research applied, using the questionnaire technique, carried out with fifteen (15) students evaded between the years of 2013 and 2017, who returned to school after the four year period. As a central question, one has: "What are the real motivations that led to their avoidance in basic education, especially in the first year of high school?” The objective of this study was to know some of the causes that contributed to the dropout and consequent evasion of a certain number of students of the 1st grade of High School. The results indicate that the causes of evasion in 40% reflect external factors to the school environment, that is, they were causes related to employment, work, income, health. In this sense, the present case study found that the premises of evasion are multifactorial and reverberate for school retention.

Nuestra investigación se reporta al período entre los años 2013 y 2017. La evasión escolar engendra discusiones con énfasis en las clases de 1ª serie de la enseñanza media, etapa conclusiva de la educación básica, en Brasil. La metodología utilizada para el análisis de este fenómeno se dio a través de un estudio de caso, tomando como referencia la investigación cuantitativa y cualitativa aplicada, utilizando la técnica del cuestionario, realizado con 15 (quince) discentes evadidos entre los años de 2013 y 2017, que regresaron a la escuela después del cuadrienio. Como pregunta central, se tiene: "¿Cuáles son las motivaciones reales que llevaron su evasión en la educación básica, especialmente en la 1ª serie de la Enseñanza Media?". El objetivo de este trabajo fue conocer algunas de las causas que contribuyeron al abandono escolar y consecuente evasión de un determinado número de alumnos de la 1ª serie de la Enseñanza Media. Los resultados apuntan que las causas de la evasión en un 40% reflejan condicionantes externos al ambiente escolar, es decir, fueron causas relacionadas a las cuestiones de empleo, trabajo, renta, salud. En este sentido, el presente estudio de caso constató que las premisas de la evasión son multifactoriales y reverberan para la retención escolar.O artigo apresenta a problemática da evasão na Escola de Ensino Médio Luiz Girão, situada no município de Maranguape no Estado do Ceará, no Brasil. A nossa investigação reporta-se ao período entre os anos de 2013 e 2017.
