The main problems affecting society are the effects of the process. The present study had as objective understand the role of the municipal government of Braço do Norte (SC) in relation to the execution of the project Selective Collection of Urban Solid Waste. Therefore, technical information was collected with entities and environmental agencies att he federal, state and municipal levels. The technique of interviews and questionnaires was used with the present administrations and the two previous. In the research about the discontinuity of the selective waste collection in the municipality of Braço do Norte, in the last three administrations, was also found that the exchange of managers in the municipal administration is one of the conditioning factors that hindered the implementation of an environmental policy. Was perceived the possibility of new actions for the continuity and the project improvement. In relations to the group of residents affected by regular and selective collection, it is necessary to advance in aspects such as awareness, responsibility and commitment.
