The process of deterioration of reinforced concrete structures starts from the preliminary design study of the building, extending to the execution of the construction, and reaching levels of operation, use and maintenance of the final product. The growing need for rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures has been a major concern in the field of Building Pathology due to the lack of preparation of professionals regarding the knowledge and application of methods of diagnosis and intervention in the most diverse cases of pathological events. This work brings some concepts related to the causes, mechanisms and symptoms of the degradation of reinforced concrete structures, as well as procedures for their investigation, in order to aggregate information for the diagnosis of the most frequent pathologies observed in the structures of reinforced concrete of buildings and later to Definition of conduct for intervention of recovery and reinforcement of such structural elements. A real case study with photographic record of the pathological manifestations is presented, where the causes of the anomalies are pointed out, and a more adequate proposal as an intervention action for the resolution of the pathological event is presented.
