The present work aims to investigate the cost benefit relationship between the use of slabs of massive and ribbed types in multifamily buildings. For the elaboration of the study a qualitative study was used, of exploratory level whose method of procedure adopted was the comparative study. The work was carried out with the intention of evaluating the potential differences between the consumptions of materials required for the massive and ribbed slabs as well as to compare concepts used for both types and to describe procedures and dimensional developments for the slabs. In this case it was found that the ribbed slab is economically more feasible, as it also has its own weight and reactions in the lower beams of the massive slabs.
