Resumo: The architectural proposal of a prison in the neighborhood of Potecas, São José, emerges as an alternative to the problematic situation of increasingly unsustainability and overcrowding which the prison system of Santa Catarina and Brazil finds itself in. In this final graduation paper, it is proposed to adopt - in respect to the role of architecture - concepts that have proven efficient around the world on the strife against crime, based on the treatment of respect for the prisoners, encouraging the education, professionalization and work during the fulfillment of the sentence as a form of resocialization, thus contributing to the reduction of the recidivism rate.
