The present Completion of Coursework had the objective of verifying the applicability of the National Water Resources Policy, established by Law 9.433/97. For that, a qualitative approach was used, the bibliographic procedure and the level of depth was from exploratory nature. Initially, an analysis of the main environmental considerations related to water was made, demonstrating the water resource finitude and its respective protection, as well as the principles applicable to water. Throughout the studies, the institutes guiding the National Water Resources Policy, as the Water Code – Decree 24.643/34, as well as the entire National Water Resources System – SINGRH, with their due constituent organs, considered of paramount importance for its proper functioning. And finally, from the analysis and study of Law 9.433/97 – Water Law, conceptualizing it and demonstrating your main objectives and general guidelines, fundamentals, as well as Water Resources Plans with their respective grants, which consists on the right to use water resources, for a given period, under the terms and conditions expressed in the respective act. Therefore, it is concluded by the extreme importance and necessity of this law to the Brazilian legal order, since according to the main objectives of the National Water Resources Policy which is to ensure the current and future generations the necessary water availability, in standards appropriate to their respective uses.
