Accidents in the aviation sector are very serious in most of their occurrences are fatal, unfortunately it is a sector that when the event of these eventualities shows a large number of fatalities. In this way, it is necessary to carry out a study and an analysis regarding the factors that influence this occurrence, because through these factors it is possible to determine possible practices and procedures to mitigate or reduce the occurrence of accidents in the aviation industry, thus defining preventive measures which aid in flight safety. For this purpose, the following objectives were determined: to present, through a bibliographical research, data related to accidents in general aviation in Brazil, making a description of them; present information related to the various areas of aviation, such as commercial and agricultural, but not only these, and the influence of flight safety in each area; to describe for each specificity the factors that justify the existence of safety measures or lack thereof; to analyze the relation of the information obtained with the factors related to the specific areas of the aviation, demonstrating the correlation between both. The methodology used was the bibliographic research, with predominance of the qualitative method of analysis, but with the aid of tools of the qualitative methodology. The results indicate the importance of human, material and operational factors (including the climate) in the prevention of accidents, as well as the importance of education, training and investigations that seek the causes of accidents when they occur.
