Pathological manifestations are present in many homes, and the increase in humidity due to capillarity is a very common finding, because the moisture present in the soil finds flaws or lack of waterproofing in masonry buckets; these flaws allow moisture to reach the walls of the houses. Besides being common to find, it is harmful to the health of users and also to the useful life of homes, affects aesthetics with dark spots on the walls, mold, causes blisters in the paint, among others. This work investigated some residences with five years of use in the municipality of Garopaba - SC, to identify the causes and the mechanism of occurrence of this humidity. A questionnaire was applied to the professionals involved in the construction, the questionnaire was structured with questions about the pathological manifestations, the waterproofing projects, if they had technical monitoring, in relation to the materials used in the buckets, if they had photographic records. In addition to the questionnaire, photographic records of the waterproofing services of homes that have these records were also analyzed. The realization of this study identified the lack of waterproofing design and the lack of technical monitoring during construction, as the main reasons for the appearance of pathological manifestations.
