Resumo: This research had as general objective to understand the challenges that oppose and hinder the development of regional aviation in Brazil, verifying the aspects, characteristics and facts that refer to each of them and to the general content. It is characterized as a descriptive research with a bibliographic and documentary procedure through articles, reports, academic papers and news, as well as statistical content, such as those present on the Regional Aviation Association (RAA) website; and annuals of civil aviation, produced by ANAC. The approach used was qualitative and quantitative. The analysis of the data was done through tables and quantitative comparisons, according to each content included in the development. At the end of the research, it is concluded that the non-expansion of regional aviation is due to problems related to governmental actions, such as lack of incentive programs and bureaucracy; in addition to precarious public aspects, such as airport infrastructure.

Caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa descritiva com procedimento bibliográfico e documental por meio de artigos, reportagens, trabalhos acadêmicos e notícias, além de conteúdos estatísticos, como aqueles presentes no site da Regional Aviation Association (RAA); e anuários da aviação civil, produzidos pela ANAC. A abordagem utilizada foi qualitativa e quantitativa. A análise dos dados foi feita por meio de tabelas e comparações quantitativas, de acordo com cada conteúdo incluído no desenvolvimento.
