This research aims to explore the Brazilian cyber defense structure and see if it can provide a cyber securitized environment. In addition, it will connect such matter to the Brazilian interest on becoming a member of OECD. Therefore, in order to promote a greater understating of the research, the most relevant concepts to the topic were explained; These concepts were exemplified towards the Brazilian reality, using real statistics; The evolution of information security policies over the years was demonstrated, allowing the use of a time line to reinforce the topic development; The Brazil’s way of organizing its public agencies and the army towards the menaces coming from the cyberspace was explained; furthermore, the relation between Brazil and OECD, and the Brazilian way of promoting its entrance to the organization, was analyzed. The exploratory method was utilized for the research objectives, the qualitative method was used for approaching the problem and bibliographic/documental procedures for data gathering. Finally, it was concluded that the country is quite delayed on matters of cyber security; An entrance in the OECD will require a great effort by the Brazilian government and, at last, a lack of investment in education and research, in order to develop cyber defense and information security, was pointed as a great flaw.
