Resumo: Skateboard is a sport that is growing more and more. Among the most popular categories among youngsters today is downhill speed, which consists of riding downhill runs with skateboards that surpass the speed of one hundred kilometers per hour. As with any new sport, many of the equipment is not designed for specific use, and can cause consequences to athletes, such as injuries. In the case of equipment related to braking, currently the competitors use ordinary shoes and without any suitability for the practice of the sport. This project aims to develop a device that helps the competitors of downhill speed in the braking maneuver, without disrespecting the national and international rules of the sport.

Dentre as categorias mais populares entre os jovens está o downhill speed, que consiste em corridas monte abaixo com skates que ultrapassam a velocidade de cem quilômetros por hora. Como ocorre em todo novo esporte, muitos dos equipamentos do downhill speed não foram ainda projetados para um fim específico, podendo causar consequências aos atletas, como lesões. No caso dos acessórios relacionados a frenagem, por exemplo, os competidores utilizam calçados comuns e sem nenhuma adequação para a prática do esporte.
