This research had as main objective to understand how communication mistakes can contribute for incidents and accidents. The research is characterized as explanatory with bibliographic and documentary procedure through articles, regulations, laws, manuals, reports of accidents and news reports. Using a qualitative and quantitative approach. The analysis was made through official material and analyzed according to the theoretical basis. By the findings after the materials’ analysis, we can conclude that the lack of supervision in relation to the teaching program applied on flight schools and aero clubs, can lead to poor education and consequently accidents related to aeronautical phraseology, besides the language barrier faced by pilots and air traffic controllers that use English to establish communication in foreign and national territory. Communication mistakes contribute to incidents and accidents due to sparse and spaced access to training and the lack of updated materials with the internationally applied standard, mainly on the basis of the pilots’ career, such as the private pilot and the commercial pilot course. We can also conclude that ATM technology can still evolve and continue to contribute for aeronautical safety, not only in the communication aspect, thus making aviation move forward and become even safer.
