This undergraduate thesis intends to study the free trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union. Its relevance to the academy as well as to international relations specialists is high since if the agreement is ratified, it can impact several states and move large quantities of products and services. The methodology of this research is naturally basic, its approach is qualitative, and its objectives explanatory. Also, it is important to mention that the purpose of this research is to analyze the likely economic repercussions of the free trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union. Therefore, in order to primarily achieve this goal, three specific objectives have the purpose of guiding the academic along this research paper: Discuss the principles of cooperation and, more specifically, international economic cooperation; Describe the current and historical overview of the Mercosur and European Union economic blocs; Check the measures agreed by Mercosur and the European Union within their free trade agreement. Moreover, it should be pointed out that the present research is divided into three sections, where the first addresses some theoretical concepts and particularities about cooperative phenomena in general, but also the economic area. Subsequently, historical information about the negotiation of the trade treaty is punctuated, along with the next steps involving its ratification. Besides that, details on the emergence of Mercosur and the European Union, as well as data on their intra and extra bloc trade are presented throughout the dissertation. Finally, all trade treaty norms are set out together as well as the consequences of the agreement that the economic blocs will see if it comes into force. In conclusion, the main result obtained with this research is the possibility of visualizing the positive consequences of the trade treaty for Mercosur's agricultural sector, but also for the European industrial area. Moreover, it must also be said that a series of adaptations will have to be made by both blocs so as the states can deal positively with the free competition that will come into force after the treaty is legalized.
