Resumo: | Polyurethane is a material used in civil construction due to its excellent performance as thermal and acoustic insulation, however, its high flammability restricts its uses. This study reports the effects of the addition of polyethylene terephthalate residue on the production of fire-resistant acoustic-thermal insulation. The composites were prepared containing 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% of polyethylene terephthalate residues replacing the polyurethane matrix, and 20% of aluminum anodizing sludge. These showed higher resistance to flammability (UL-94) and similar thermal stability (thermogravimetric analysis) to polyurethane. The incorporation of the residues increased the density of the composites without breaking their alveoli (SEM). It was evidenced that the thermal insulation capacity was maintained and the acoustic insulation capacity was increased in the composites in relation to the polyurethane. It was also verified that the values of the compressive strength of the composites allow possible applications. The composites developed are suitable for application in buildings as fire-resistant acoustic-thermal insulation. The incorporation of the residues in the composites allowed the reduction of about 72.30% of the production costs, being possible the recycling of these. In this way, it is suggested that the construction industry consider incorporating waste into the life cycle of products from other segments as part of its formulations, making it more sustainable. |
