The idealization of flight capability has been embedded in the human mind since the Greek mythology. Flying was synonymous of power, accomplishment and conquest. This whole universe was possible because of the first heated air balloon which, with later experiments and technological advances, make it possible the invention of the first airships until the concretization of one of the most secures transportations currently: the airplane. Firstly developed for the strictly military use, the airplane was also gaining ground in the commercial context of the exploration of airspace, requiring more and more infrastructure that would provide all the necessary facilities for passengers. Therefore, the models of aerial terminals were created, capable of not only to promote the logistics for the flights, but also to promote commercial areas, based on the concept of “aeroshoppings”. In this context, this final paper introduces the theory fundamentation for the elaboration of an architectural project to promote the requalification of the Anita Garibaldi airport, located in the Praia do Sol district, in the city of Laguna, through the promotion of the historical recovery as a means of regional economic development. Based on the concept of airports with diversified uses, the proposal also offers a School of Ballooning and Aeromodelling, both incorporated to the airport network.
