The overall purpose of this thesis was to explore methods that result in better development of Brazilian airport infrastructure, with meeting the air traffic demands as a goal, mainly in passenger transport. This was accomplished through analysis of the technology level and ways of airport management used in the most important airports in Brazil and in those located in North America, focusing on the “airside” of each airport (the aircraft maneuver areas). It is characterized as exploratory research with documentary and bibliographic process, whose method can be classified as qualitative. The documentary procedure used relevant material about the topic contributing to the construction of approaches that supported the development of the research. Data analysis was performed based on content selection, reading of materials, laws, graphics, and statistics. At the end of the research, it is concluded that the structure at an airport is a decisive factor for the evolution of aviation at that location, however, it can be a limiting factor when there is no good planning or management.
