The present review aims to verify, through literature review, the relationship between the presence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and dental erosion in children. The search for articles was carried out in the following databases: Pubmed, Google Scholar, Scielo and Science Direct. The descriptors used for the search were in the Portuguese language: erosão dentária, doença do refluxo gastroesofágico e crianças and in the English language: dental erosion, gastroesophageal reflux disease and children. Articles should date from January 2008 through April 2017. Each study was reviewed by at least two reviewers, who were in common agreement at the time of article selection. The studies analyzed in the present review suggest that patients with GERD are more susceptible to the development of dental erosion. Particularly, in relation to the deciduous dentition, the sequelae are more expressive, and attention should be paid to early diagnosis.
