Resumo: The present study addresses a bibliographic research that aims to show what absolute isolation is about, its purpose and advantages in dental procedures. Through published studies it analyzes the various contributions of the use of absolute isolation in Dentistry. To achieve this goal, a bibliographic survey of the literature of recent articles was used, as well as of books and published articles related to the subject. Through this study it was possible to state that the benefits provided by absolute isolation can, many times, exceed the expectations of professionals.
