Pathological manifestations are present in virtually all civil engineering constructions. In special works of art these anomalies become even more evident, since they are found in generally more aggressive environments. However, there are ways to prevent these problems from occurring through periodic maintenance. Unfortunately most of the time over the years this care has been neglected, especially in our country in relation to public works where the pathological problems end up developing and aggravating in the middle of the structure. The bridge Nereu Ramos, located in the city of Tubarão / SC fits in this situation, in 80 years the bridge has never received maintenances and presents pathological faults in several points. In addition to age, aggravating factors make the case more worrying, such as the increase in the flow of heavy vehicles over the years, which were probably not originally foreseen in the project and the deployment of a traffic light at the exit of the bridge board, adding braking loads and acceleration. Based on theoretical references published by specialists in the field of pathology, together with visual and photographic inspections of existing diseases, it was possible to carry out a survey of pathological manifestations of greatest severity and extent present in the work and suggest possible means of recovery. Through the application of a questionnaire, directed to civil engineers in the areas of Structure and Pathology, a point of view was developed based on the experience of these specialists. From a compilation of results obtained through the inspections and the theoretical reference, together with the analysis of these professionals, a mapping of the location of the most evident and serious pathological problems in the bridge was elaborated, indicating probable mechanisms of occurrence, tests to be performed to confirm them and suggest recovery methods.
