In the pursuit of new innovative and sustainable building techniques, the double-skin facade has emerged as a differential for buildings, combining a constructive technology with thermal comfort and acoustic performance. This facade method differs from other methods by the use of a second skin, leaving a gap between it and the wall, which provides natural ventilation by allowing the air to flow.The system requires planning before executing as well as specialized and skilled workers. It costs more than a traditional facade but this extra cost pays for itself over time.This system requires a proper installation using materials that are different from the ones used by the normal system and it also requires a coating material for thermal and acoustic insulation. The method is emerging due to its benefits like energy and maintenance cost savings and shorter building time.The benefits of applying the double-skin facade system are noticeable in comparison to the traditional facade in various aspects.
