In the 1980s, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), witnessing a steady growth of international civil aviation as well as the emergence of new technologies understood it would be necessary a complete analysis and assessment of the procedures and systems in use in order to meet future aviation demands. Over the years, various States of ICAO Regions began to deploy ATM programs using CNS/ATM technologies. Also being an ICAO member and driven by the advent of new technologies and a more sustainable understanding of aviation, Brazil developed its ATM National Implementation Plan. This document defines the transition from conventional air navigation to the new air circulation driven by PBN-RNP (Performance Based Navigation-Navigation Performance Required) and Collaborative Routes, where the airline company works closely with air traffic control, through the Air Navigation Management Center (CGNA) to reduce delays and make assertive decisions, decreasing the flight time and fuel consumption. The comprehension of new national air circulation and its probable benefits are precisely the main objective of this work, based on exploratory and explanatory research, bibliographic and documentary procedures, and qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data collection was made through specific literature and legislation, as well as data available in the Air Transport Statistical Yearbooks provided by ANAC. The analysis of the collected data has occurred through the careful reading and objective interpretation of the proposed literature, in order to enable understanding of the research problem. As a result, it is possible to say that Brazil has been struggling to meet the standards set by ICAO for the modernization of air activity. Gradually, the airlines have been showing promising results reducing delay issues, fuel spending and aviation occurrences related to the topic of the research.
