Resumo: Meteorological adversities are substantial in landing and take-off operations and en-route flight (air navigation), both in terms of security and the cost of a flight. In this sense, the pre-sent work intends to dispose about the meteorological phenomena, conceptualizing them and pointing out how they affect flights by interfering with flight plan actions. Weather adversi-ties may result in increased fuel consumption and other expenses such as: staff, hotel, road transport if the aircraft goes to alternative. The means to achieve this goal is based on princi-ples that are admittedly true and irrefutable, which allowed logical conclusions and, in this way, achieved results that demonstrate the meteorological influences on the costs and safety of the company over time. This condition can be for small deviations of route due to cloud formations, or by change of route or level of flight to choose the route of flight with safety, or to use alternative to landing, since the total expenses are mainly determined by the fuel con-sumption once this is the biggest waste factor of an airline. That said, the companies must in-vest in technologies and instruct the pilots to the correct decoding of the available meteorolog-ical information for the selection of the best route or leave uncomfortable situations or even danger to the flight, in addition to, they must able to select the best paths based on available data. It is concluded that the work stations and meteorological centers are greatly important for the air transport sector directly assisting the aeronautical performance and, without due information in addition to increased costs, incorrect procedures can lead to an insecure situa-tion and even, in more critical cases, cause air disasters.
