This paper aims to identify the causes by which construction workers sometimes don’t use personal protective equipment (PPE) during the performance of their activities. From this, propose actions to be adopted by companies with the purpose of minimizing the possibility of accidents during work. In order to reach these objectives, a bibliographical research was carried out with the available literature on the subject and a field research to obtain workers' reports from an interview. We have identified that safety management programs are not efficient in the construction sector, either because of the socio-cultural issues of the workers, or because of the lack of internal programs promoted by companies, such as: active internal programs, training on the importance and awareness of the use of PPE.
