The application of aluminum windows’ frame in buildings, represents a relevant percentage in relation to other materials such as: steel, wood and PVC. Market researches shows that in the coastal line region of Santa Catarina, most of the real estate developments have been built almost entirely with aluminum windows’ frame. However, the knowledge and practices used by the professionals is still not homogeneous, and sometimes is not the most correct. The aluminum frame market includes many different types of manufacturers: manufacturers of aluminum profiles for window’s frames, manufacturers of standard frames, manufacturers of approved frames, manufacturers of not approved frames, among others. The standards ABNT NBR 10821:2017 (Frames for Buildings) and ABNT NBR 15575:2013 (Housing Buildings – Performance), establishes parameters and peculiarities regarding frames, so there is a standard, and these presents the minimum required levels of performance. This work presents a study review of the mentioned standard and others as well as literature that complements it, presenting concepts, performance levels, maintenance and conservation indications, installation instructions, among others. It is noticed a lack of knowledge about the technical norms related to aluminum windows’ frame, complementing this work, it was intent to show the compliance or not of the norms through field research, manufacturers and constructors.
