The service-oriented architecture (SOA) is a software architecture and aims to show logical operations through services. The SOA has been requested by its great efficiency to increase the potential for reuse, reduce coupling, facilitate integration, increased agility to changing requirements, and increasing alignment between business areas and technology. Facing such a context, this present research. It presents a study on the service-oriented architecture and its core technologies. The key technologies related to SOA, we highlight the web services based on open standards, have this leading role in research on the basis for the implementation of services. So service orientation guides the design of services organizing them and employing them their principles, which have been studied throughout the literature. In order to demonstrate the applicability of service-oriented architecture, there was the development of an application based on this architecture. For that employs a software development model aimed at SOA, this model encompasses phases of modeling, analysis and solution design. Web services were developed in JAVA. As orchestration standard adopted the WS-BPEL engine provided by ODE. The consumption of this process occurs by a web application. The practical implementation of research evidence architecture features service-oriented, it is easy adaptability to new requirements, free from platforms and programming languages since the entire solution is based on open standards.
