Resumo: This work has the main objective of presenting the System of Management of Operational Safety - SMS, used to prevent future aeronautical accidents, exposing the System and conceptualizing the main points as its development policy through explanatory research, with a bibliographic and documentary reference with qualitative nature made through books, articles, academic papers, regulations and laws. The work is about the concept of flight operational safety, explaining the fundamental points about this modality, where the SMS stands out, what its main characteristics and purposes. The work also deals with operational flight safety, and how aeronautical accidents are investigated, with the fundamental help of the SMS.

O trabalho versa sobre o conceito de segurança operacional de voo, explicando os pontos fundamentais sobre essa modalidade, onde se destaca o SGSO, quais suas principais características e finalidades.
