The objective of this study is to study the economic obstacles to the development of Mercosur, a bibliographical survey was made on the bloc and the history of Mercosur, the tariff and non-tariff barriers of Brazil and the other countries that make up part of the bloc, a graph analysis was made of Brazilian exports, imports, the main suppliers from Brazil from 2008 to 2014, to verify the oscillations, the performance of each of the countries that are part of the Mercosur, but a more focused view was placed on Brazil, which is one of Mercosur's strongest countries followed by Argentina. Both countries have suffered from the international and political crisis. The methodology was a bibliographic review, analytical and descriptive, where it sought to answer the research problem through sources such as google academic; virtual Library; articles, electronic journals; books. It is concluded that there was no complete integration among the member countries due to cultural, economic and social differences, and it is justified that Brazil would have little to gain as well, since it is the country that exports the most from the bloc, followed by Argentina, the others regional asymmetries have weakened the integration of countries.
