O brownout nas operações de serviços aero médicos do corpo de bombeiros militar de Santa Catarina

This research aimed at investigating the measures and procedures that pilots in command of the helicopters of the Air Operations Battalion of the Military Fire Brigade of Santa Catarina carry out to prevent brownout. For this, the brownout and its risks for public safety aviation were conceptualized, a questionnaire was formulated and applied to the population of helicopter pilots of the BOA/CBMSC and alternatives were presented to avoid the brownout around the world. It is characterized as an exploratory research with bibliographic procedure in reports, regulations, articles and monographs, and field research, seeking to analyze the data obtained with the questionnaire applied in a predominantly qualitative way through tables and graphs. At the end of the research, it was concluded that in most cases the pilots seek to turn around and find a new place to land, however, there are also cases in which they request that the teams of firefighters on the ground perform the sprinkling of firefighting trucks over the intended landing site in order to avoid a possible dust cloud causing the brownout. These techniques used point out that the BOA/CBMSC bypasses the brownout most often by performing landing techniques, which meets the short-term solutions listed by studies carried out internationally and that, until then, technologies that help pilots are not used, listed in the same study, during the brownout.
