Resumo: This project is based on the validation of cost savings when operating a general aviation aircraft, commonly powered by aviation gasoline engine comparing to others of the same model or category, powered by kerosene or Diesel fuel also showing the possibility of changing its original characteristics when near to an overhaul maintenance, with the alternative of replacing the engine, propeller and fuel system. The research is field, exploratory and applied with bibliographic, documentary procedure based on books, handouts, regulations, service manuals, service orders and practical experimentation. The approach was quantitative and qualitative. The information were obtained through operation manuals, documents and measured reports, all based on the theoretical foundation. The conclusion is that the use of conventional gasoline engines still shows benefits when thinking of its relatively low cost, ease of operation, maintenance shops, but it is inefficient due to the high consumption and gasoline price, on average, two times more expensive. In addition, there is a big difficulty to re certificate an aircraft with replacement of the power plant and proving the safety after a swap of this level.

In addition, there is a big difficulty to re certificate an aircraft with replacement of the power plant and proving the safety after a swap of this level.Este trabalho objetiva-se na validação da economia de custos da operação de uma aeronave da aviação geral, comummente movida a gasolina de aviação comparando a com outras do mesmo modelo ou categoria, movidas a querosene ou Diesel fundamentado no princípio de funcionamento de motores à Diesel e turboélice, além de caracterizar viável ou não a alteração de suas características originais quando próximo à uma revisão geral, tendo como alternativa a substituição do motor, hélice e sistema de combustível. A pesquisa é de campo, exploratória e aplicada tendo procedimento bibliográfico, documental baseado em livros, apostilas, regulamentos, manuais de serviço, ordens de serviço e experimentação prática. A abordagem foi quantitativa e qualitativa. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de manuais de operação, documentos e relatos mensurados, todos baseados na fundamentação teórica. A conclusão é de que a utilização de motores convencionais ainda demonstra viabilidade diante de seu relativo baixo custo de aquisição, facilidade na operação, pontos de abastecimento e manutenção, mas torna-se ineficiente por conta do elevado consumo e preço da gasolina, em média o dobro do peço do querosene.
