The health and safety of the worker is not limited to just the environment within the factory or company. According to the law, accidents on the journey that the employee takes to travel to the company are equivalent to accidents at work. This work aims to analyze the behavior of commuting accidents involving motorcycles. An observational, exploratory, applied research was carried out, with a quantitative, descriptive, ecological type approach, with analysis of time series from 2008 to 2017 with the entire territory of Brazil and a deepening in Santa Catarina. The results were related to the number of entrants in the INSS, number of motorcycles, their correlations were assessed and their social security and hospital costs were stipulated. The results showed a relation in the increase in the number of motorcycles and commuting accidents involving motorcycles, without being able to attribute the share of participation of this factor. With social security costs estimated at R$ 4,279,670.74 and hospital costs estimated at R$ 52,151,749.00.
