Resumo: | This research aims to evaluate the influence of the human element on aircraft maintenance practices. For this, the descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, was used in relation to the methodology. In this paper, we have investigated important authors related to studies on human factors, such as Scott A. Shappell (2000), Douglas A. Wiegmann (2000), Robert L. Helmreich (2000), James T. Reason (1995) and Mario Cesar Vidal (1999). Data from various agencies, such as the National Fatigue and HFACS Commission, as well as documents from institutions such as the FAA, ICAO and recent CENIPA articles were also used. According to the analysis of the data, it was possible to perceive that the human being will always be prone to make mistakes. And since maintenance practices depend on the human being, therefore, both perfect maintenance and any misunderstanding in it are the result of human variability. The result, whether successful or not, in aircraft maintenance practices, will always be linked to the human factor, being largely responsible, directly or indirectly, for the quality of the components and systems that allow flying. |

Para tal, utilizou-se, em relação à metodologia, a pesquisa descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa. Em seu embasamento teórico, foram pesquisados importantes autores relacionados aos estudos acerca dos Fatores Humanos, como Scott A. Shappell (2000), Douglas A. Wiegmann (2000), Robert L. Helmreich (2000), James T. Reason (1995) e Mario Cesar Vidal (1999). Foram utilizados também dados provenientes de diversos órgãos, como da Comissão Nacional de Fadiga Humana e HFACS, além de documentos de instituições como a FAA, a ICAO e artigos recentes do CENIPA. Conforme a análise dos dados, foi possível perceber que o ser humano estará sempre propenso a cometer erros. E, como as práticas de manutenção dependem do ser humano, logo, tanto a manutenção perfeita, quanto qualquer equívoco nela existente, são resultantes da variabilidade humana.
