The objective of this work is to debate the influence of religion in the United States politics, especially in the Republican Party. Attempting to comprehend the functioning of the religious speech in the U.S. society, identifying the principal point for its intersection with politics, besides that the research shall approach its performance in the present time. This research is classified as explicative and utilizes bibliographic documents to argue that since the colonization of the United States, emerged in the country a protestant base. Therefore, with the independence and the construction of the State, this base has solidified in the United States society and has searched to maintain the status quo for the next generations. Stands out the importance of the religious base to the election of republican representatives since the 1980’s and its maintenance until the last election. Thereby it’s noted that since the principium of the State construction until the last presidential mandates, religion and politics are intrinsically united in the country.
