This research aimed to demonstrate the process of deregulation in its phases, listing the benefits and harms of the process. The study is characterized as an descriptive research, with bibliographic and documentary procedures, with data obtained at books, articles, reports, regulations and laws, in a qualitative approach. The data analysis was set in graphs and tables, according to the theoretical basis of the research. It was concluded that the process of deregulation in aviation demanded a lot of work and research by the authorities and a readjustment of the companies, which started to have free competition. It was aconcluded that the deregulation process in Brazil occurred through phases, as well as it ocurred in American deregulation. The research also concludes that advantages deregulation were the opening of the market for new companies, free trade, flexibilization and reduction of rates, private control of aviation and hiring of employees. On the other hand, there have been layoffs due to the closure of unprepared companies and there are still infrastructure problems. In general, the process of deregulation represented a step forward in the aeronautical management model.
