This paper aims to study how the international financial crisis in 2008 deeply affected the brazilian automobile sector during the 2010 and 2015 period. The theoretical basis will cover the following topics: Globalization, International business, the worldwide financial crisis in 2008 as well the automotive sector itself. The methodology applied in this research was ‘basic’ and the work contains a qualitative approach to the data, mostly possessing bibliographical and document-based information to supply the work’s content. The primary objective is to pinpoint the paramount impacts of the crisis in the automotive industry. First off the Brazilian car industry will be analyzed before the 2008 threshold to then study how the Brazilian market reacted to this crisis and to conclude, a thorough dissection of the incentives introduced by the government to mitigate the 2008 recession and subsequently stimulate the automotive industry to regain its footing. It is plausible to assume that the crisis not only, in a pejorative sense, affected the car industry but according to this work’s data the government’s reactive policies greatly benefited the sector. Production, licensing and car exports experienced their best years straight after the genesis of the crisis, however it began to slow down in 2012.
