Patologias em residências unifamiliares associadas à falta ou falha de impermeabilização: estudo de casos

Pathological manifestations resulting from the humidity’s action are very present in single-family houses, especially in the southern region of Palhoça - SC. In this extremely worrying scenario, an exponential technological growth is seen regarding new products and waterproofing systems, which are increasingly efficient in correcting or preventing the unwanted presence of pathologies resulting from humidity. However, for cultural reasons in Brazil, waterproofing is often neglected. Thus, this paper aims to analyze the current situation and the background of four (4) houses located in the city of Palhoça, identify the existing pathologies due to the lack or the application failure of some waterproofing system and propose a viable correction method. In addition, this paper aims to provide the academic community with more material on this issue and try to raise awareness among all involved in the chain of small constructions about the importance of well designed and executed waterproofing. From this perspective, bibliographical references were raised in order to define the existing types of humidity and waterproofing systems. Subsequently, surveys were carried out in the four residences analyzed, with the purpose of applying a questionnaire with 12 (twelve) questions to the owners, performing the visual inspection and recording the photographs of the places that presented some type of pathology. After the data collection stages, the pathologies and their possible causative agents were diagnosed in each residence and a viable procedure to solve the problems found were suggested. Finally, it is understood that the bad execution or the complete lack of a waterproofing system in single-family houses in the southern region of Palhoça, allows the appearance of pathological manifestations shortly after the construction is completed. Moreover, the problems found were basically the same in all constructions and all of them was be caused by soil humidity, allowing the application of the same correction method to solve all the problems found.
