This paper aims to analyze the duty of children to provide obedience and respect to their parents and perform their own services of their age and condition, according to item IX of article 1.634 of the Civil Code. As for the approach, it will be qualitative, because through researched doctrines it was possible to reach a conclusion about the problem in question. As for the level of research, the exploratory was used, which allows greater knowledge about the problem and greater considerations on the subject. In addition, the bibliographic and documentary research method was employed, bringing jurisprudential and doctrinal understanding, legislation and articles that helped in the explanation and deepening of the theme. The concept of family has evolved and is today based on affection and mutual respect among its members, and family law is guided by constitutional principles. In turn, the rights of children and adolescents have also evolved and today their integral doctrine is considered as integral protection, governed by the principles of absolute priority and the lowest interest of the minor. Parents and / or guardians exercise family power and thereby assume rights and duties in relation to their children, including the right to demand that their children render obedience, respect and the services proper to their age and condition. In turn, this right consists of lawful and lawful orders, with a protective and educational purpose, and should exclude arbitrary orders that characterize unlawful conduct, which no benefit will bring to the child or adolescent, on the contrary, since they are orders that evidently have no educational character to the child.
