This final project aims to demonstrate the necessity of the return of the special retirement. This search presents a synthesis of the factors that influence the crew’s health problems, and through descriptive research of bibliographical and documentary data, and a field survey establishes relationships between the increase of air environment degradation and increase of the factors detrimental to the health of the aeronaut. After surveying and analyzing laws and studies developed in recent years, it is clear that the special retirement for aeronauts is a repair with the goal of mitigating the damage to the health of aeronauts due to the remarkable degradation of the air environment, exhausting flight scales, less rest times, higher flight altitudes, flying in an inhospitable environment exposing the aeronauts to cosmic radiation and pressurized environment, making the profession more unhealthy and fatiguing. After collecting and evaluating the data, it was possible to verify how necessary it is to reconsider the law and return the reparation, erroneously described by the government as a "benefit". This monograph presents a brief comparison between 90’s scenario, a period when the special retirement law was in force, and the current scenario, and aims to demonstrate how technological advances have made the environment even more propitious to health problems.
